OCR PDF – Make Scanned PDFs Searchable

Scanned documents are just pictures of text. OCR reads the words and adds an invisible text layer, so you can search with Ctrl+F, select and copy — without changing how the pages look.

Processed in your browser — files never leave your device

Frequently asked questions

Will my PDF look different?

No. The original page images stay untouched; the recognized text is laid invisibly on top, exactly over each word.

Which languages are supported?

English for now. Recognition runs on your device, so the language data is downloaded once and then works offline.

How long does OCR take?

A few seconds per page on a computer, a little longer on a phone.

Is my document uploaded?

No. OCR runs in your browser — your scans never leave your device.

What about pages that already have text?

They're skipped by default, so text you already have isn't duplicated. Choose “All pages” to recognize everything again.
